What is 95th Percentile?

95th Percentile is a bandwidth measuring method based on peak use. It allows your usage to exceed your commit threshold for brief periods of time, without incurring an overage.

The 95th percentile method allows a customer to have a short (less than 36 hours, given a monthly billing period) burst in traffic without overage charges. The 95th percentile says that 95% of the time, the usage is at or below this amount. Conversely, 5% of the samples may be bursting above this rate.

How does this equate to the GB Measurement?

1Mbps is approximately 315GBs of sustained usage over a thirty day period.
1,000 GB (1 TB) = approximately 3Mbps
10,000 GB (10 TB) = approximately 30Mbps
